Tanisha for Prime Minister
- Transparency - Transparency is a very important issue to me and many (if not all) members of the union. When I first came into politics, government progress reports were mandated but usually were never released. I wrote a bill to repeal government reports and amend some requirements of the original transparency bills passed by the nation known as the Diamond Confederacy. If elected, I'll make sure all government channels and archives remain accessible to the public, prevent executive overreach (be it in ministries or elsewhere), and provide ways (mainly through reports) to keep the public informed on important affairs/decisions. I'm sure we all agree that the key to success in our union is through transparency and activity. If the government is active and the public is able to participate and have knowledge of government affairs, I believe activity will increase. Meetings once every two weeks or month should suffice. For transparency in cabinet meetings, I will also release the document that the cabinet uses to plan meetings beforehand.
- Autonomy in Roleplay and other Ministries - I strongly believe that ministries should be independent or semi-autonomous from the Prime Minister. We've seen the negative impacts overreach has had both in NationStates and in real life, which is part of the reason why I will work to prevent overreach as a part of my transparency plan. I will work to see a bill passed that prevents the Prime Minister from forcing agenda items, proposals, or changes in purpose on the roleplay and foreign affairs ministries, for example. All ministries should have full control of their internal affairs and in their objectives.
- Abolish and rebuild the MoE - Though it has potential still, the Ministry of Education has had a belabored existence. I would abolish it or have its sole purpose be running an archive of UDS laws, events, and history. Another possible alternative for the MoE is merging it with the Ministry of Citizen Affairs (as described below) to eliminate the excessive amount of bureaucratic positions in our government, something that is leading to inactivity.
- Other ministry reform - The Ministry of Census, designed to deal with citizenship, registering to vote, and other population-based affairs should be incorporated into a larger Ministry of Citizen Affairs. This Ministry would deal with the responsibilities of the current Ministry of Census and a non-existent Ministry of Culture. The MoCA should work with the Ministry of Roleplay for 'game night' and other fun group activities as the Roleplay Ministry/Server already has the aforementioned. For efficiency, the two 'sub-ministries' should be run by individuals appointed by the Minister of Citizen Affairs.
- Appointing ministers - Instead of selecting ministers without any input from interested individuals, I will allow unionists to submit an application to run a ministry or let me know that they would like to run a ministry. This will be a great step forward in solving ministry inactivity and backlog as capable, motivated individuals that are able to commit time to their ministry will do an exponentially better job than those that are not motivated and don't have time.
- UDSAF - The UDSAF should begin to increase its participation in world affairs as this will bring more prestige to our union and help increase activity in those individuals who are mainly committed to R/D. More involvement/collaboration with Libcord and recruiting active members of the community to help out on R/D can serve as a path to increasing overall region activity.
- Continue and review current policies - I will continue policies that have benefited and continue to benefit our region while looking at policies, such as the WA and Embassy programs, that could be updated or improved. As for our embassy policy, I will review it specifically to ensure there is a clause that allows our union to terminate a relationship if our partner does not properly punish racial slurs or other offensive material.
No matter what, I will always listen to you and will work on your behalf in the executive. I hope that I have earned and will continue to earn your vote as well as your trust. Thanks for reading!
