Hiya UDS,
The December General Election is fast approaching, and you all have the chance to choose the people who will represent you in the government moving forward. This is why I’m excited to announce my intention to run for a position in our Senate.
I understand and accept that huge questions will be raised about my capabilities to serve in the Senate, and I expect that many of you will have your doubts due the many faults during my time as Prime Minister. I’m not going to hide from the facts: I messed up many times over the past few months. However, while the premiership may have been a step too far for me, I have proven many times that I can serve as a key contributor to both our Legislature and the region as a whole. As Speaker of the Senate earlier this year, I led our efforts as we passed 25 bills in one 3-month term, taking an active part in discussions and always making sure to vote. While the number of bills may have been a bit excess, we were able to work efficiently to pass these bills while also maintaining their quality and getting a large part of the Senate involved in their discussions. This is the sort of activity you can expect from me if elected, and is also the sort of activity I’d strive to instill in my fellow Senators.
This coming term will be an interesting time for the region. We’ve all begun to see the flaws of our current constitution, seen the absence of activity throughout all parts of the region, and we all want to fix these problems. As a Senator, I would work to act on these matters of concern and use the Legislature to make the region better for all of us.
There are multiple goals of have for this term which I feel will have a positive impact on the UDS. One of the crucial jobs we must complete is to guide our Union in creating a new constitution which fixes our government and solves the flaws of the current one. We must aim to create some form of convention or contest, whichever it may end up being, which suits our needs, but we need to ensure it includes proper guidelines which will prevent anything similar to the nearly 3-month convention we went through a year ago.
In addition, I intend to fully set the Union Laws into UDS law, as they are currently under an executive order. They have provided a much simpler listing of laws and make it easier for anyone to understand our region better, and setting them into law will ensure they continue to be used for the benefit of everyone. Lastly, I believe it is important that we take a closer look at the current electoral system. While it is overall good, there are a few flaws that we need to take a look at and fix.
Most importantly, however, is my aim to help keep the Senate active and work with all players, both new and old, to continue to improve the UDS and move it upwards. I’m looking forward to working in the Senate this term if elected and striving to keep the Legislature efficient, effective, and excellent.
Regards,
Khevo
I’d be delighted to answer any questions you may have.
